Lost and Found
2013
Lost and Found is a song cycle for soprano and piano. Influenced by the songs of Brecht, Weill, Sondheim, Eartha Kitt... the cycle is based on "found poems" (mainly sourced from Verbatim Poetry), with a common theme around our society's interactions over the Internet. The piece is often satirical (in both the texts and the musical styles referenced), but there are also many moments of pathos — and there is a serious, questioning subtext, accessed through the superficial layer of humour.
